An exciting secondment opportunity exists within Council's Customer Experience & Transformation department for a part time Senior Visitor Services Officer.
About the position
As the Senior Visitor Services Officer, you will take a hands-on role in delivering and enhancing visitor services at the Frankston Visitor Information Centre. You will lead and support a team of staff and volunteers, ensuring high-quality, welcoming interactions for all visitors. This is a part-time position, offering a unique opportunity to engage directly with the local community and tourists while promoting Frankston’s many offerings.
The roster for this position is Wednesday to Saturday: 8.55am - 4.10pm in line with operational requirements. This is a temporary position until April 30 2025.
The main responsibilities will include:
- Oversee daily operations at the Visitor Information Centre and support the Roving Visitor Services program.
- Lead and support staff and volunteers, ensuring a cohesive, collaborative team environment.
- Engage with local businesses, tourism partners, and suppliers to promote attractions, experiences, and events.
- Coordinate promotions and familiarisation tours (famils) to build knowledge among staff and volunteers, enhancing visitor engagement.
- Handle retail transactions and manage visitor inquiries, offering tailored recommendations for local experiences.
About you
- As the successful candidate, you will have:
- Leadership experience in visitor services, tourism, or a similar environment.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with a range of stakeholders.
- Knowledge of Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula, including key attractions and visitor experiences.
- A passion for developing Frankston as a leading tourism destination.
- (Desirable) Experience in retail management or a tertiary qualification in Tourism or Marketing.

This position is a Band 5 currently remunerated at $80,750.44 (pro rata) per annum, plus superannuation.
