About the role 

The Council’s Arts and Culture Department is looking for casual Librarians who will be responsible for providing excellent Customer and Information Services to the community.

So much more than books, the library today is a safe space for the community to create, engage, enjoy or just be. Frankston City Libraries has branches at Frankston, Carrum Downs and Seaford, plus outreach locations across the city.

The main responsibilities for the positions will include: 

  • Acting as a duty manager to supervise, support and motivate a team;
  • Resolving complex customer queries, complaints and other escalated issues to ensure fair and appropriate outcomes;
  • Assisting customers and other staff members in the discovery and use of new technology; and
  • Supporting the team by performing daily operating tasks as required.

These is a casual positions and could be rostered at any library location on weekdays, weeknights and weekends.  

About you

As the successful candidate, you will have:

  • A confident and flexible attitude with the resilience to continue to create positive customer experiences in a range of unique circumstances;
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills to contribute to a harmonious and positive work environment;
  • Experience in facilitating programs and training to enhance community engagement;
  • Extensive experience in the use of current technologies and a passion about assisting the community to explore and use them;
  • Ability to work at short notice in a busy team in a customer facing environment; and
  • A relevant tertiary qualification and eligibility for professional membership of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA).  People nearing the end of their studies are encouraged to apply.

This position is a Band 5 currently remunerated at $51.08 per hour plus superannuation. Overtime will also be paid as required.
