About the position
Council’s Governance Department is looking for a Governance Officer who will be responsible for providing administrative and governance support within the governance team.
The main responsibilities will include:
- Providing administrative support to ensure good governance to Council;
- Assisting the team in the delivery of Council Meetings and Briefing, including agenda preparation;
- Maintaining various compliance and statutory registers and records;
- Providing assistance in the reporting of Councillor Committee Meetings;
- Maintaining databases and reporting systems and identifying efficiencies and improvements; and
- Providing administrative support for the statutory procedures for place naming of Council’s roads, features and localities.
About you
As the successful candidate, you will have:
- A political acumen and an understanding of the local government environment and governance;
- A commitment to providing high quality customer service;
- A high level of organisational and well-developed communication and administrative skills;
- Advanced technology skills to ensure the timely delivery with accurate quality of large word processing and excel documents;
- Proven ability to manage, prioritise and complete workloads within established critical time constraints.

This position is a Band 5 currently remunerated at $80,750.44 per annum, plus superannuation.
